Vengai Paal / Black Bindi ;-

In many villages of Tamil Nadu, ( Vangai Paal ) Vijaysar resin is used as a bindi for babies is our tradition. Its natural resin is secreted from the tree Vijaysar. On the 5th Day, or 7th Day, or 11th Day after the baby is born, the Newborn baby ceremony is done, during that time we used to apply Vengai pal pottu . This resin will not cause any allergies and will have a pleasant smell. This is a heritage practice to avoid "Dhristi" in any form.

Vasambu Valayal/ Calamus Bracelet:

 Vasambu ( Sweet Flag/ Calamus ) takes a privileged portion in Tamil Traditional medicine. Babies have the habit of shaking their hands as well as often taking their hands to their mouths. The fragrance of the Wood aroma will rejuvenate the brain and the nervous system gives babies proper sleep, as well as protects newborn babies from digestion issues.

Kaal Thandai/ Twisted Bracelet:

This is made of Pure Copper and Lead and is called “Murukku Thandai” in Tamil.  Both metals are twisted with one another and form the name “Twisted bracelet and tune the leg nerves for the betterment. No wonder acupuncture medicine uses copper needles to spur the energy flow in the body. New Born often stretches/squeezes its hands and legs for relaxing the body, This metal bracelet will provide relaxation to the body nerves, and the baby feels better against body pain, etc.   

Karu Valayal / Black Bangle ;

 Just like Vengal Paal, this too has the color of black which plays the main part against “dhiristi”. Looks lovely in the baby's hands.

Both genders of Babies wear this traditionally since long ago. Mother-fed Babies normally have the issue of omitting the milk drunk. Even though there is no scientific explanation, Its widely believed in Tamil Tradition that wearing this will avoid that issue.
